Most Austin couples spend between $3,000 and $5,500 on wedding videography. Below $2,000 you are usually hiring one person with one camera. Above $6,000 you are usually paying for a larger crew, a longer edit, or a name. Our own collections run $3,800 to $5,000, and this post explains what sits behind those numbers.
What Austin videographers charge in 2026
Four rough tiers, based on what we see couples quoted:
- $1,200 to $2,000. One videographer, one camera, six hours, a three-minute highlight film. Often someone building a portfolio.
- $2,500 to $3,500. One experienced videographer, sometimes a second for the ceremony, a highlight film and a ceremony edit.
- $3,500 to $5,500. Two cinematographers all day, professional ceremony audio, drone, a highlight film plus longer edits. This is where most full-service Austin studios sit.
- $6,000 to $10,000+. Larger crews, multi-day coverage, film stock, documentary-length edits, or a studio with a waitlist.
The gaps between those tiers are not arbitrary. The jump from one videographer to two is the largest single cost in this business, because it is a second experienced person for a full day plus the extra footage they generate, which lands on the edit. The jump from a highlight film to a highlight film plus a documentary edit is the second largest, for the same reason: more hours at a desk.
Our three collections are Moon at $3,800, Star at $4,400, and Eclipse at $5,000. All three include eight hours of coverage, 4K, drone footage, licensed music, a highlight film, the full ceremony with professional audio, and the toasts.
What actually drives the price
Four things move a quote more than anything else.
Hours on site. Eight hours covers most weddings from getting ready through the first dances. Ten hours covers a getting-ready start and a late sparkler exit. Each extra hour costs us a person for that hour, which is why it is usually priced separately. Ours is $300.
How many people are filming. One camera means the ceremony is covered from one angle. If it is filming your face during the vows, it is not filming your partner's. Two cinematographers is the single biggest jump in what the finished film can show.
Edit length. A five-minute highlight film takes us roughly forty hours to cut. Cutting a twenty-minute documentary edit is a separate job on top of that.
Deliverables. A highlight film, the full ceremony, the toasts, a documentary edit, and a social cut are five separate edits, not one file exported five ways. Each has its own pacing and its own audio mix. Studios that include all five are pricing five jobs.
Physical film. Super 8 has hard costs per cartridge (stock, developing, and scanning), so it always adds to the price.
What is usually not included
Ask any studio for their à la carte list. Ours: raw footage on a drive is $300, an extra hour is $300, a documentary edit is $300, recorded letters are $200, a 60-second social cut is $300, a rehearsal dinner with recorded speeches is $800, and live streaming the ceremony is $500.
Where the money goes on our end
For a typical Star wedding: two people for eight hours plus travel and setup is roughly two long days of labour. The edit is another five to seven working days, most of it spent selecting rather than assembling. Then licensed music, colour work, backups, and the drives and storage that keep your footage alive for years. Equipment depreciates whether it films or not, and insurance and liability coverage are required by most venues in Austin before we are allowed on site.
None of that is unusual. It is why a full-service quote is a multiple of a day rate rather than a day rate.
How much should you budget?
Couples who care about film usually land between 8 and 12 percent of their total wedding budget. On a $60,000 Austin wedding that is $4,800 to $7,200. If videography is the thing you expect to still have in twenty years, weight it accordingly and trim elsewhere.
Most studios in this range book nine to fourteen months out, and spring and fall Saturdays go first. Price is not the only constraint. If a date matters more than a specific videographer, ask early, because the person you want may already be booked if you wait.
Does travel cost extra?
Not inside Austin. The Hill Country, San Antonio, and Houston are regular territory for us and travel is quoted upfront if there is any. Anything requiring a flight or a hotel night gets quoted before you sign, not after.
