Good Shepherd's Windsor Road campus is one of the easier churches in Austin to plan around. Ceremonies here follow the Book of Common Prayer and, in our experience, run a tidy 30 minutes. The campus has room to spread out, and the reception is usually 10 to 15 minutes away downtown.

Before you book
The church's wedding page sets the terms. One partner needs to be a current, active member for at least six months, or the child or grandchild of current, active members. Couples attend one of two Saturday morning wedding seminars held each year, then complete premarital counseling with a priest on staff.
The page does not publish photography or video rules, so ask the church office for current guidance before the day.
The campus and where photos happen
There is more than one room to work with. Timelines we filmed used a bride's room in the church, Allen Hall for the groom and groomsmen, the Old Parish Hall for pinning boutonnieres, and once the church office instead of the bridal suite.
The little red chapel on the grounds is a favorite. One May couple did bridal party photos there from 3:45 to 4:30, and another couple's shot list included the groomsmen in the small red church. Formal family photos usually happen at the altar after the ceremony.
- Ample parking on site, including a parking garage, per one planner's vendor notes.
- On one July wedding the church access window ran 4:00 to 7:00 PM for vendors.
- A florist set ceremony flowers at the church at 9:30 that morning.
Ceremony and music
In July 2026 the Good Shepherd organist played throughout a 6:00 to 6:30 ceremony, with a string quartet handling pre-ceremony music from 5:30. The quartet asked for four armless chairs. In May, the organ began at 4:45 for a 5:30 start.
Two small details from that May timeline help us: the officiant was mic'd on arrival, and the officiant asked guests to turn off their phones and asked extended family to stay seated for photos afterward.
After the recessional
Decide before the day whether family photos happen here or not. One couple returned the wedding party to the altar at 6:05 and wrapped photos by 6:30. Another sent the wedding party and family straight onto a waiting shuttle at 6:30 with no photos, reaching the reception at 6:45. A September couple took bridal and extended family photos at 6:00, left on the bus at 6:20, and stopped for portraits downtown on the way.
